{"id":1080,"date":"2012-12-11T07:30:13","date_gmt":"2012-12-11T13:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/small-vase.flywheelsites.com\/?p=1080"},"modified":"2017-03-18T16:36:30","modified_gmt":"2017-03-18T22:36:30","slug":"the-vicarage-at-nuenen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.vangoghgallery.com\/index.php\/en\/2012\/12\/11\/the-vicarage-at-nuenen\/","title":{"rendered":"The Vicarage at Nuenen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nuenen is a small town in the North Brabant district of the Netherlands where Vincent van Gogh lived from 1883-1885.\u00a0 In 1882, <a title=\"Van Gogh's Father\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.vangoghgallery.com\/index.php\/2015\/03\/18\/vincent-van-goghs-father-reverend-theodorus-van-gogh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Van Gogh\u2019s father<\/a> became a pastor in Nuenen, and the family lived in the vicarage, the residence provided by the church, also known as a parsonage or rectory.<\/p>\n<p>In early December of 1883, Van Gogh left Drenthe for Nuenen, and moved into the vicarage with his family.\u00a0 The laundry at the back of the house was turned into a sort studio and storage for him.\u00a0 Van Gogh\u2019s father wrote to Theo saying,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe do not think it\u2019s really suitable, but we have had a proper stove installed (\u2026).
