Van Gogh’s Drawings of Sien

Van Gogh created several drawings of Clasina “Sien” Maria Hoornik in 1882 and 1883.  Van Gogh’s drawings of Sien show her as a pregnant woman, as a mother nursing her baby, and working at home sewing or peeling potatoes.  These drawings were primarily done in pencil; although, some were created in ink with pen and brush, using China ink or black chalk.  View images of Van Gogh’s drawings of Sien below, or find out more about Van Gogh and Sien here.
